Case inbox
Autessa Ethics Hotline’s case inbox lists every hotline report a committee member is allowed to see, newest first, with filters for state, category and age, a toggle for hotline tests, unread dots for new reporter messages and sortable columns. Reports that leave the member out never appear.
Why it matters
Hotline reports scattered across inboxes get lost
When reports arrive as emails to a shared mailbox, nobody knows which ones are open, who owns them or which reporter is waiting for an answer. The case inbox is a single, filtered queue of every case with its state, age, assignee and last activity, so the committee can see at a glance what needs attention.
What you get
- Columns: case code, category, state, received date, age, assignee and last activity; every column sorts.
- A summary line: how many cases are open and how many have new messages.
- Filters for state (any of six), category (any of eight) and age (older than 7, 30 or 90 days).
- A “Show hotline tests” toggle so test reports stay out of the way.
- An unread dot and a highlighted row when the reporter has written since you last looked.
- Pages of cases with Load more, so a long history stays fast.
- Plain empty states: “No reports yet” or “No cases match these filters”.
How it works
How does case inbox work?
Open the workspace
Committee members sign in to Autessa and open the Ethics Hotline workspace. Cases is the home page.
Scan the summary
Open cases and cases with new messages are counted at the top.
Filter and sort
Narrow by state, category or age, or sort any column, for example oldest open first.
Open a case
Click any row to open the case page. Opening it is recorded in the access log.
Every option
Filters and columns
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| State filter | Every state, New, Triage, Investigating, Resolved, Closed or Dismissed. |
| Category filter | Every category or one of the eight. |
| Age filter | Any age, or older than 7, 30 or 90 days. |
| Show hotline tests | Off by default; tests are marked with a TEST badge when shown. |
| Columns | Case, Category, State, Received, Age, Assignee, Last activity. |
| Paging | Load more fetches the next page; the summary says when more are available. |
Permissions
Who can do what?
The hotline’s access rules are enforced on the server for every request, not just hidden in the interface.
| Who | What they can do |
|---|---|
| Ethics committee member | See and open every case that does not leave them out. |
| Committee member left out of a report | Nothing; those cases are not in their list at all. |
| Company admin who is not on the committee | Nothing; the workspace says it is only for the ethics committee. |

FAQ
Questions about case inbox
Can committee members see every hotline report?
They see every report that doesn’t leave them out. If a reporter excluded a member, that case never appears in their inbox, and opening it directly gives the same “not found” as a case that doesn’t exist.
How do we find cases that are getting old?
Use the age filter (older than 7, 30 or 90 days) together with the state filter, or sort by Age.
How do we know a reporter has replied?
The case shows an unread dot and a highlighted row in the inbox, the summary counts it, and the assignee is emailed if reporter-message emails are on.
