Administration · Autessa Ethics Hotline
Guided setup
Autessa Ethics Hotline is set up in minutes. A company admin makes the hotline’s own data key in a few seconds (it can read and write the hotline’s data but never delete it), the first member claims the committee, adds a second member and runs a hotline test. The key can be rotated with no downtime, or turned off to close the hotline.
Why it matters
A hotline project shouldn’t take a quarter
Standing up a speak-up channel often means a vendor contract, an implementation call and IT tickets. Meanwhile, the policy says employees can report, and there is nowhere to report. Guided setup gets you from zero to a tested hotline in one sitting, with sensible access from the start.
What you get
- A first-run Setup screen for company admins; everyone else sees a calm “not set up yet” page.
- A narrow data key that can read and write only the hotline’s data, and can never delete.
- The key is checked, then sealed inside a private part of the app; nobody sees it.
- Status at a glance: Active, Needs attention or Not set up, with when it was made or rotated.
- Rotate makes a new key, switches over and only then turns the old one off.
- Turn off stops the hotline at once (the public page says it isn’t open); nothing is deleted.
- An installed-parts check confirms every piece is deployed.
- Only the person who installed the hotline can manage the key; Setup says so to anyone else.
How it works
How does guided setup work?
Make the data key
A company admin opens the workspace and chooses Set up. Progress shows as the key is made, checked and sealed.
Start the committee
Claim the first seat with the name reporters will see.
Add a second member
In Settings, so a report about one of you still reaches someone.
Run a hotline test
From Metrics, to prove reports and emails arrive.
Share the hotline
Link it from your handbook, policies and intranet.
Every option
Setup controls
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Set up | Make, check and seal a new data key. |
| Fix | Shown when the key needs attention, with the reason. |
| Rotate | Replace the key with no downtime; the old key stops once the new one works. |
| Turn off | Close the hotline and the workspace’s data access until set up again. Nothing is deleted. |
| Check again | Re-check the key and the installed parts. |
| Installed parts | Each group of parts with how many are deployed, and which are missing. |
Permissions
Who can do what?
The hotline’s access rules are enforced on the server for every request, not just hidden in the interface.
| Who | What they can do |
|---|---|
| The person who installed the hotline | Set up, fix, rotate or turn off the data key. |
| Company admin who is not on the committee | See Setup, and claim the first committee seat when the committee is empty. |
| Ethics committee member | See the key’s status and the installed parts in Settings. |

FAQ
Questions about guided setup
How long does it take to set up an ethics hotline?
Minutes. Make the data key (a few seconds), claim the first committee seat, add a second member and run a hotline test.
What can the hotline’s data key do?
Read and write the hotline’s own data, and nothing else. It can never delete, it is never shown to anyone, and it can be rotated or turned off at any time.
What happens if we turn the key off?
The hotline stops right away: the public page says it isn’t open and the workspace can’t load cases. Nothing is deleted, and setting it up again reopens the hotline.
100% customizable, code and all
Make Autessa Ethics Hotline fully your own.
Use it out of the box, then change anything. Ask Autobot, Autessa’s AI builder, for a new field, screen, report, workflow or agent and it builds it into your copy of the app. Or open the code and edit it yourself. Nothing is locked: the app, its data and its code are yours.
