Employee handbook and knowledge base
Autessa Homebase includes an employee handbook and HR knowledge base: HR writes the handbook, policies, how-to guides, FAQs and manager guides with a draft, review and publish workflow, every publish is kept as a version, and search only ever returns articles meant for the reader.
- Handbook, policies, how-tos, FAQs and manager guides
- Draft, review, publish, with version history and restore
- Search in your own words, only what you may read
- Reader feedback on every article
The problem
The handbook nobody can find
A handbook in a shared drive goes stale, and people ask HR instead. Homebase keeps it searchable, versioned and next to the rest of HR, with HR playbooks and drafts kept away from employees.
How it works
How employee handbook and knowledge base works in Homebase
Start from templates
Setup adds starter drafts (welcome, time off, benefits, code of conduct, security, remote work, expenses, preventing harassment and whistleblower), marked as templates. Rewrite them with your rules; they cannot be shown as your policy before that.
Write
The editor has headings, callouts, images (toolbar, paste or drop) and a slash menu. Pick who can read it and its knowledge base and category.
Review and publish
HR partners and knowledge authors submit for review; an HR administrator publishes or sends it back. Every publish records a version you can view or restore.
Read and improve
People search on Knowledge or Home, read, and say whether it helped. HR reads every comment.
Options and settings
Every option, in plain words
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Type | Policy, how-to, FAQ or manager guide. |
| Who can read it | Everyone, managers, or HR only. Drafts and HR-internal articles never reach employees. |
| Knowledge bases and categories | Group articles, with sub-categories. |
| Workflow | Draft, Review, Published and Retired; reinstate a retired article as a draft. |
| Publish changes | Readers see the published version until you publish the changes as a new version. |
| Ask people to confirm they read it | Turns the article into a policy that needs acknowledgment. |
| Owner and review by | Who owns the article and when it should be reviewed. |
| Reader feedback | Helpful or not helpful, with an optional comment. |
| Views | Most-read articles show on the Knowledge home. |

FAQ
Questions about employee handbook and knowledge base
Can I host our employee handbook in Autessa Homebase?
Yes. Homebase has a knowledge base for the handbook, policies, how-to guides, FAQs and manager guides, with search and version history.
Who can publish articles?
HR administrators publish. HR partners and knowledge authors write drafts and send them for review.
Will employees see drafts or HR playbooks?
No. Drafts and HR-internal articles never reach employees; the server only returns what each reader may see.
Are starter templates published automatically?
No. They are drafts marked Template: edit before publishing, and must be rewritten before they can be published.
