Onboarding and offboarding

Onboarding checklists

Autessa Homebase includes employee onboarding checklists: each new hire gets a checklist built from a template, where every step belongs to HR, the manager, a buddy, IT or the new hire and has a due date counted from the start day. Owners get an email and see the step on their Home page until it is done.

  • Starter templates for employees and contractors, ready to edit
  • Steps grouped by phase: Before day 1, Day 1, First week, First month, First 90 days
  • Started for you when HR adds a person, or automatically before the start date
  • Every step has an owner, a due date and an email

The problem

Onboarding that depends on someone remembering

A great first week needs a laptop ordered, payroll set up, forms filed, a buddy picked and a 30-day check-in booked, by five different people. When that lives in someone’s head, things are missed. Homebase turns it into one dated checklist with an owner on every step.

How it works

How onboarding checklists works in Homebase

  1. Shape the templates

Setup installs three starter templates (Employee onboarding, Contractor onboarding and Offboarding). Edit the steps, owners and timing, and choose who each template is for, such as employees or contractors.

  2. Start the checklist

Add a person can start onboarding in the same step, HR can start it from Onboarding or the person’s profile, or it can start automatically 7, 14, 21 or 30 days before the start date.

  3. Owners do their steps

Each owner gets an email and sees the step under Steps for you on Home. Mark it Done, or Skip it, on the checklist page.

  4. Follow progress

The Onboarding board shows everyone joining or leaving, how far along each checklist is, and overdue steps. Managers see their own team’s.

✦ AI assist

How the assistant helps

On the onboarding pages the assistant tells you which onboarding steps are yours, who is starting in the next two weeks, and can start onboarding for a new hire. It asks you to confirm before it starts anything.

It acts with your own access, and anything important waits for you to press Confirm.

FAQ

Questions about onboarding checklists

Does Autessa Homebase come with onboarding checklist templates?

Yes. Setup installs Employee onboarding, Contractor onboarding and Offboarding templates, covering paperwork, payroll, benefits and health insurance, equity, equipment and accounts, a buddy, the first-day meeting and 30, 60 and 90-day check-ins. They are meant to be edited.

Can onboarding start automatically?

Yes. In Settings → Onboarding you can start it 7, 14, 21 or 30 days before the start date, or leave HR to start it. Add a person can also start it when the hire is recorded.

Who gets told about onboarding steps?

Each step’s owner gets an email and sees it on their Home page until it is done. Managers and HR are told when a checklist for their team starts or finishes.

Can contractors have a different checklist?

Yes. Each template has a Who it is for rule, and the starter Contractor onboarding template covers the contract and NDA, tax form, invoicing, limited access and a reminder before the contract ends.
