Novelty and value scoring
Autessa IDF Manager gives reviewers a structured way to evaluate invention disclosures: a novelty score and a commercial value score, each a whole number from 1 to 10, plus review comments and a rejection reason. Scores live on the Review tab, which only Reviewers and Admins can see.
- Whole numbers from 1 to 10; unscored shows a dash
- Context recorded when a disclosure is rejected
The problem
Committee decisions nobody can explain later
Patent review committees often decide in a meeting and record the outcome, not the reasoning. A year later nobody remembers why one idea was filed and a similar one was dropped. Scoring every disclosure on the same two axes, with comments, makes decisions comparable and defensible.
What you get
- Two scores per disclosure: novelty, and commercial value, each from 1 to 10.
- An unscored disclosure shows a dash, never a misleading zero.
- Scores must be whole numbers in range; anything else is flagged before saving.
- Once set, a score can be changed but not cleared, so a scored disclosure always keeps a score.
- Review comments hold the reviewers’ reasoning; the rejection reason records why a disclosure will not be pursued.
- The Review tab is hidden from Contributors and Viewers, and its fields are removed before their screens are drawn.
- Saving review fields records which fields changed in the activity feed.

FAQ
Questions about novelty and value scoring
How are invention disclosures scored?
Reviewers give each disclosure a novelty score and a commercial value score, each a whole number from 1 to 10, and add review comments. Scores are optional; an unscored disclosure shows a dash.
Can inventors see their scores?
No. Scores, review comments and the rejection reason are on the Review tab, which only Reviewers and Admins can see.
Can I remove a score once it is set?
A score can be changed to any value from 1 to 10 but not cleared back to unscored. This keeps a scored disclosure from silently losing its evaluation.
