Device compliance

Autessa IT Desk device compliance records whether each laptop, desktop, phone and tablet is encrypted, enrolled in MDM, protected by a screen lock and running at least your minimum OS version. A device is compliant only when every check passes, and a check older than 30 days counts as overdue until someone records a fresh one.

Record compliance check

Assets › Out of compliance lists every device like this one.

The problem

Auditors ask which devices are encrypted. You should know in one click.

Security questionnaires and audits ask the same questions about endpoints. If the answers live in a different console for every platform, or nowhere at all, IT spends days assembling proof that should be one list.

What you get

  • Four checks per device: disk encrypted, MDM enrolled, screen lock, and OS version.
  • Minimum OS versions per OS family, for example macOS 14.0 and a Windows build number, compared part by part.
  • Three compliance states: Compliant, Out of compliance and Not checked.
  • A stale window (30 days by default) turns old checks into "check overdue", shown as out of compliance.
  • Each recorded check stamps the date and who checked it.
  • An Out of compliance list in the navigator and a Devices failing compliance report.
  • Monitors and peripherals are left out: compliance applies to laptops, desktops, phones and tablets.

How it works

How does device compliance work in Autessa IT Desk?

  1. Set the bar

An IT administrator sets the minimum OS version for each OS family and, if needed, a different stale window.

  2. Record a check

On the asset, press Record compliance check and tick encryption, MDM enrollment and screen lock, then enter the OS version. You can also import these columns by CSV.

  3. See the result

IT Desk lists exactly which checks failed (for example "OS 13.6 is below 14.0") and sets the compliance state.

  4. Stay current

When a check passes the stale window, the device shows as check overdue until it is checked again. The weekday IT digest lists stale compliance.

AI assist

How the IT Desk Assistant helps

Ask the IT Desk Assistant "which devices in use are out of compliance?" and it filters the hardware list for you. On an asset, it can record a check from what you tell it, waiting for your confirmation.

The assistant acts as you, with your role. It fills forms but never saves them, and anything risky waits for you to press Confirm.

FAQ

Questions about device compliance

How is device compliance recorded?

Your team records compliance checks on the asset or imports them by CSV, and IT Desk keeps the state, the reasons and the stale-check warning for you.

What makes a device compliant?

Disk encryption, MDM enrollment and a screen lock, plus at least the minimum OS version when you set one. A check older than the stale window counts as overdue.

Can I set different minimum versions for Mac and Windows?

Yes. Minimum OS versions are set per OS family, and versions are compared part by part, so 14.10 is newer than 14.2.

Try device compliance in Autessa IT Desk

Device compliance marks each computer and phone compliant only when it is encrypted, MDM-enrolled, screen-locked and on the minimum OS, and flags checks older than 30 days. Your team records checks by hand or imports them from CSV.
