Record cash and check payments
Autessa Payments lets you record a payment made outside it, like cash, a check or another processor. Pick the date, optionally note how they paid (“Check #1042”), and choose whether to email a receipt; the invoice turns Paid and the pay link stops working.
The problem it solves
Not every customer pays online
If a customer hands you a check, your invoice list should still be right. Recording the payment keeps outstanding totals, the customer’s page and reminders accurate, without moving any money.
What you get
- Available on sent invoices that are not yet paid.
- The paid date can be today or earlier, never in the future.
- The note (up to 500 characters) records how they paid.
- Email a receipt to the customer, or not.
- No money moves through Autessa Payments, and the pay link stops working.
- Recorded payments show Paid with how it was settled, and they can’t be refunded through Autessa Payments.

Open the invoice
Find it in Outstanding.
Click Record a payment
The dialog shows the amount and explains no money moves.
Fill it in
Paid on, how they paid, and whether to email a receipt.
Mark as paid
The invoice turns Paid and reminders stop.

Questions about record cash and check payments
Does recording a payment move money?
No. It only marks the invoice paid and, if you choose, emails a receipt.
Can I refund a recorded payment?
Not through Autessa Payments, because the money never moved through it. Refund it the same way it was paid.
Can I record a payment from the CLI?
The command exists but is refused from the CLI and scripts by default. Do it on the Payments page.
