Browser phone

Autessa Phone & Texting includes a browser phone, a softphone that rings wherever you have Autessa open. You can answer the business line, decline, mute, use the keypad and end calls, and call teammates browser to browser, with no desk phone or app to install.

Ringing this browser because Take calls in this browser is on

The problem it solves

Desk phones and personal cells both get in the way

Desk phones tie people to a desk, and handing out personal cells mixes business with private life. A browser phone puts the business line in the tool your team already has open, and every call it handles is logged with the company.

What you get

  • It signs in automatically for people whose role can use agents, and asks for your microphone only the first time you answer or dial.
  • "Take calls in this browser" is on by default, remembered per device, and cannot be switched off mid-call.
  • Incoming calls show who is calling, or which agent is handing it to you, with Accept and Decline.
  • During a call you get the timer, Mute, Keypad tones, End, and an Agreed to texts button to record consent.
  • The People view lets you call any teammate's browser phone, with no phone number needed.
  • The status pill in the Phone app always says where you stand: Ready for calls, Connecting, On a call, Not connected (with Try again) or Not taking calls in this browser (with Turn on).
  • In the Autessa desktop app, a native call notification appears even when the window is not in front.

How it works

How does browser phone work?

  1. Open Autessa

Sign in. The browser phone connects on its own and the status pill shows Ready for calls.

  2. A call rings

A call flow, a ring group or an AI agent transfer rings your browser. You see the caller and press Accept or Decline.

  3. Talk

Mute when you need to, open the keypad to send tones, and press Agreed to texts if the caller says yes to texts.

  4. Hang up

Press End. The call, with its transcript and any recording, is in Calls for you and your team.

  5. Call a teammate

Open People, search a name and tap to ring them wherever they have Autessa open with calls on.

AI on the line

What AI agents do here

AI agents can transfer a live call to your browser phone, with a whisper about who is calling and why, and ask you to press 1 to accept. You pick up already knowing the context.

FAQ

Questions about browser phone

Can I answer business calls in my browser?

Yes. The Autessa browser phone rings wherever you have Autessa open with Take calls in this browser on, and you press Accept to answer.

Do I need a desk phone or a separate app?

No. It works in the browser. The Autessa desktop app adds a native call notification.

Can I call a teammate?

Yes. Open People and tap a teammate to ring their browser phone. No phone number is needed. Teammate calling works in the browser for now.

Can I put a caller on hold or transfer them myself?

Not from the browser phone today. It has mute, keypad and end. Transfers happen in call flows and through AI agents.

Try browser phone on your own number

The Autessa browser phone rings in any browser where you have Autessa open, so you can answer the business line, mute, use the keypad and call teammates without a desk phone.

Phone & Texting is built into every Autessa account. Call and text as yourself, or let an AI agent take the line.

100% customizable, code and all

Make Autessa Phone & Texting fully your own.

Use it out of the box, then change anything. Ask Autobot, Autessa’s AI builder, for a new field, screen, report, workflow or agent and it builds it into your copy of the app. Or open the code and edit it yourself. Nothing is locked: the app, its data and its code are yours.
