Sprint review and carry-over

Autessa Vision closes a sprint with a review step. When you complete a sprint, its unfinished tasks are already selected, you pick which ones carry over, and Vision closes the old sprint and creates the next one with those tasks in one step. On the sprint’s last day, a one-time reminder pops up at 9am.

The problem

Closing a sprint is busywork, so it gets skipped

In many tools, closing a sprint means dragging every leftover task somewhere by hand, then creating the next sprint and dragging them back. Teams stop doing it, sprints overlap and velocity stops meaning anything. Vision makes the close one decision: what carries over.

What you get

  • Complete sprint opens a review listing every incomplete task, with this sprint’s unfinished work preselected.
  • Tick or untick tasks to choose exactly what carries into the next sprint.
  • Confirming closes the sprint and creates the next sprint with the picked tasks, in one step.
  • Unpicked tasks stay available in the backlog.
  • The completed sprint keeps its velocity and its Completed timeline.
  • A “Sprint ends today” reminder appears once at 9am local time on the active sprint’s last day, or on load if you open Vision later that day.

How it works

How does sprint review and carry-over work in Autessa Vision?

  1. Get the reminder

On the last day, Vision shows “Sprint ends today” once. It does not reappear on reload.

  2. Start the review

Choose Complete sprint. Vision lists everything incomplete and preselects this sprint’s leftovers.

  3. Pick the carry-over

Untick anything that should go back to the backlog instead.

  4. Confirm

The sprint closes with its velocity recorded, and the next sprint is created with the tasks you picked.

AI assist

How Vision AI helps

Ask the Sprint agent “help me plan the next sprint” before you close, or run Auto-triage on the new sprint afterwards to fill the remaining capacity from the backlog.

Vision AI always shows a preview or asks first. You decide what is applied.

FAQ

Questions about sprint review and carry-over

What happens to unfinished tasks when a sprint ends in Vision?

You choose. The review preselects them; the ones you keep checked move into the newly created next sprint, and the rest stay in the backlog.

Does Vision remind us when a sprint ends?

Yes. A “Sprint ends today” reminder appears once at 9am on the active sprint’s last day.

Do I have to create the next sprint by hand?

No. Confirming the review creates the next sprint with the tasks you picked.
