HRIS and employee records
Effective-dated job changes
Autessa Homebase records every job change with the date it takes effect. A change dated today applies now; a change dated later waits and applies itself that morning, and every change lands in the person’s job history with a reason.
- Title, level, department, manager, location and employment type
- Future-dated changes apply themselves on the day
- A complete job history of hires, promotions, transfers and leavers
- The person and their new manager are told by email
The problem
Changes that take effect next month get forgotten or applied early
Promotions, transfers and new managers are usually agreed weeks before they start. Applied early, the org chart and approvals are wrong; applied late, someone’s time off goes to the wrong manager. Homebase lets HR record the change once, with its date, and it applies itself on the morning it takes effect.
How it works
How effective-dated job changes works in Homebase
Open Change job
On a profile (or by dragging on the org chart), HR opens Change job and edits only what changes.
Pick the date
Takes effect today applies it now. A later date waits in job history until that morning.
Say why
An optional reason is kept with the change. The person, their managers and HR can read it.
It applies itself
A daily update applies every change due that day, so the record, org chart and approvals switch over together.
Everyone is told
The person, and a new manager, get an email about the change.

What is an effective-dated job change?
It is a change to someone’s job that is recorded with the date it starts. In Autessa Homebase, future-dated changes wait and apply themselves on that morning.
Can I schedule a promotion or transfer in advance?
Yes. Pick a future date in Change job and Homebase applies it that morning, updating the record, org chart and approvals together.
Is job history kept?
Yes. Every hire, promotion, transfer, new title, new manager, new level and departure is kept with its date, what changed and why.
Who is told about a job change?
The person gets an email, and so does their new manager when the manager changes.
Can a contractor become an employee?
Yes. Make employee converts a contractor from a date you choose and keeps their history.
