Onboarding and offboarding
Employee offboarding
Autessa Homebase includes employee offboarding: when HR uses End employment on someone’s profile, an offboarding checklist starts with steps for final pay, benefits continuation, equity information, handover, returning equipment and turning off access. The person stays Leaving until their last day, then becomes Left.
- End employment starts offboarding automatically
- Steps counted from the last day, each with an owner
- Leaving, then Left, on the last day
- Rehire when someone comes back
The problem
Departures that leave loose ends
When someone leaves, a missed step means a laptop never returned, access left on, or a benefits notice not sent. Homebase starts the same complete checklist every time and makes sure anyone who reported to them gets a new manager.
How it works
How employee offboarding works in Homebase
End employment
On the person’s profile, HR uses End employment with the last day. They show as Leaving until then.
Offboarding starts
With automatic offboarding on, the checklist starts at once: file the letter, agree how to tell the team, hand over work, prepare final pay, send equity information and hold an exit interview.
Last day
IT collects equipment and revokes access; the manager says thank you and goodbye. With IT Desk connected, IT steps run as IT Desk requests.
After they leave
HR sends the benefits continuation (COBRA) notice and closes out the record: end date, termination type and rehire eligibility. The person becomes Left; Rehire brings them back.

FAQ
Questions about employee offboarding
How do I offboard an employee in Autessa Homebase?
Open their profile and use End employment with their last day. Offboarding starts for you, with steps for HR, the manager, IT and the person.
What is on the offboarding checklist?
The starter template covers the resignation or termination letter, telling the team, handover, the final paycheck, equity exercise information, an exit interview, returning equipment, revoking access, a goodbye, the COBRA notice and closing out the record.
Can a former employee be rehired?
Yes. Use Rehire on their profile. Their history is kept, and eligibility for rehire is recorded when they leave.
