Team capacity planning

Autessa Vision plans sprints to capacity. The Triage page shows the target sprint’s committed points against its capacity, which defaults to the team’s recent velocity, and a load bar for each person in points, before and after the proposed plan. The bar turns red when a plan would overfill the sprint.

Capacity defaults to recent velocity: average points done per completed sprint.

The problem

The same two people always end up with everything

Without a view of load, work goes to whoever is most visible, and sprints are planned by optimism. Capacity planning in story points makes the trade-off visible to the whole team before the sprint starts.

What you get

  • Capacity defaults to velocity: the average done points per completed sprint (with a floor of 5 and a default of 20 when there is no history).
  • Change the capacity for this planning session at any time.
  • The team capacity line shows committed points, then committed plus planned, out of capacity.
  • Each member gets a bar for current points and open tasks in the target sprint, with the plan’s additions shown on top.
  • AI auto-triage receives each person’s current load so it can balance owners.
  • The People directory adds a workload view across every board.

How it works

How does team capacity planning work in Autessa Vision?

  1. Pick a sprint

Choose the sprint to plan into on the Triage page.

  2. Check capacity

Keep the velocity-based default or type a number for this sprint.

  3. Read the load

See who already has what in that sprint, in points and open tasks.

  4. Plan and compare

Run Auto-triage or move tasks by hand, and watch each person’s bar update.

AI assist

How Vision AI helps

Auto-triage uses capacity and per-person load as hard inputs. The Sprint agent answers “is anyone overloaded this sprint?” and the Triage agent answers “who has capacity this sprint?”.

Vision AI always shows a preview or asks first. You decide what is applied.

FAQ

Questions about team capacity planning

Does Vision do capacity planning?

Yes. It sets sprint capacity from recent velocity and shows each person’s load in points before and after a plan.

What if we have no sprint history yet?

Capacity starts at 20 points, and you can change it for any planning session.

Is capacity per person?

Capacity is set for the sprint; Vision shows each person’s share of it so you can balance the work.
