Pay bands and pay review

Autessa Homebase includes compensation bands and a pay review: HR sets a pay range per level, and per location where pay differs, and Homebase places everyone’s current pay in its band with a compa-ratio and position in band. Every pay change is dated in the pay history, and the email telling someone their pay changed never includes the amount.

  • Pay bands per level and location, with minimum, midpoint and maximum
  • Compa-ratio and position in band for everyone
  • Dated pay history: starting pay, merit, promotion, market, corrections
  • Pay never appears in dashboards, Home or emails

The problem

Pay decisions without the context

When pay lives in a payroll export, nobody can see at a glance who is below their band, how a raise moves someone, or whether a new hire’s offer fits. Homebase keeps pay next to the level and location it should match, so pay equity questions have answers, and keeps it private to the people allowed to see it.

How it works

How pay bands and pay review works in Homebase

  1. Set up pay bands

Add a range per level, and per location where pay differs, with a yearly minimum, midpoint and maximum in a currency.

  2. Open the pay review

The pay review lists everyone working here with current pay, band, compa-ratio and position in band. Filter by department and type, sort every column and export CSV.

  3. Record a pay change

Use Change pay on a person or in the pay review: effective date, kind of change, pay type, amount, currency, frequency, bonus and a reason. The person gets an email that their pay changed, never the amount.

  4. Read it on the profile

The Compensation panel on a profile shows current pay, the band and a bar with where pay sits between minimum and maximum, plus the full pay history.

FAQ

Questions about pay bands and pay review

Does Autessa Homebase calculate compa-ratios?

Yes. The pay review shows each person’s compa-ratio and position in their band, using the band for their level and, where set, their location.

Can pay bands differ by location?

Yes. A band can be set per level and per location, so the same level can have a different range in a different place.

Do pay change emails show the new salary?

No. Homebase tells the person their pay changed, never the amount. They see the details on their own profile.

Can managers see their team’s salaries?

Only if HR turns that on. By default only the person, HR and executives (unless HR turns that off) see pay.

How do these records work with payroll?

Homebase keeps pay records, bands and history as the record of pay, and works alongside your payroll provider, which runs pay and payroll taxes.
